Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL), the largest petrochemical complex in Northeast India, was commissioned on 2nd January 2016 and dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 5th February 2016. The plant produces and supplies various grades of high-quality polymers across India, with its products being widely accepted in the market. GAIL (India) Limited, the major shareholder, handles product marketing.
Administered by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Govt. of India, BCPL operates through four main units:
- GDU Duliajan: Receives natural gas feed from Oil India Limited.
- Railway Siding: Unloads naphtha from Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL).
- Lakwa GSU Cum C2+ Recovery Unit: Processes natural gas feed supplied by ONGC.
- Lepetkata Petrochemical Complex (Dibrugarh): Produces polymers by processing feedstocks.
The Duliajan and Lakwa units are approximately 48 km from the Lepetkata main complex. BCPL's registered office is located in Guwahati, Assam.
